Phantom -Requiem for the Phantom- 24

Summary:
It looks like Scythe Master’s latest creation is operational, and two masked ladies inform Scythe Master of Ellen’s movements. Ellen decides that Reiji is being too much of a pussy about the whole Cal thing, and decides to go rescue Mio and kill Cal on her own. Ellen leaves an emo message for Reiji, since she’s wanted to protect him ever since he gave her a name. Meanwhile, Mio exclaims that she really loves Reiji which drives Cal to proclaim that all Japanese are liars. Unfortunately, Kaiten doesn’t want to reveal the Godoh group’s connection to Mio as long as Mio’s life is not in danger, and so Toru cannot act.
Cal then tells the sob story of how she sat around hungry and cold for 3 days and had a generally tough life. Cal even complains about her lack of a wardrobe, before ripping up Mio’s clothes and stealing Mio’s way better cell phone. Cal calls up Ellen to schedule a 3 AM duel above the ruined Shinokura Academy dorms and tells Ellen to bring Mio some new clothes. Mio doesn’t want to believe that the “siblings” are assassins, and Ellen mentions that Reiji was being real (because his acting sucks). As Mio struggles with this new information, Scythe Master unveils his Zahlenschwestern (”number sisters”).
Reaction:
The story about hungry Cal made a lot of sense to me. Obviously the experience caused Cal’s body to store tons of fat in her breasts in the event that such a famine ever repeated itself. I was serious about the Operation Break Down Cal, and it looks like Mio pulled it off successfully. After noticing that Mio was not wearing a bra, it’s clear that Cal started to wonder if maybe Reiji didn’t like big breasts anymore. By the end, a crazy Cal was laugh-crying at Mio’s small (but not flat) chest and going off to face medium-breasted Ellen as well. BTW, I totally blame Cal. She barely ever wore that outfit, and obviously Reiji figured she didn’t like his taste and stopped taking her shopping. How long did the two of them even know each other anyway? A month? Girl’s just crazy!
The part I found most interesting was that Ellen was the prototype while Reiji and Cal were more radical experimental versions. Clearly Scythe Master analyzed the data and found that the daily massages were necessary, since he went back to them for the Zahlenschwestern. The gowns were a nice touch too (loved the bows), but he made a critical mistake in not giving them names. Even code names would have been good. As powerful as gowns are in Bee Train series, I can’t see the Zahlenschwestern surviving if they are a bunch of masked, nameless fodder characters introduced in the last few episodes.
