Kimi ni Todoke 25 (Final)
I love how Ryu is embracing Maru and Ayane is blocking Ume
Summary:
Oh God, the amazake goggles wore off
Shota tells Sawako that his PR campaign for her was a resounding success and she has changed in a good way. He liked her ever since he met her, and he thinks she’s looking extra cute tonight. The date continues to go well with Shota getting very good luck on his fortune and using the fortune as a cheapskate birthday gift for Sawako, who drew extremely bad luck. The two of them continue to think about how much they like each other, but in the end, Shota has to make the long walk home alone without so much as a kiss on the cheek. Damn bro, shoulda used the slippery steps as an excuse to fall on top of her, with your head in her crotch or something.
Did Ayane use a voodoo head-shrinking curse on Souichi?
Elsewhere, Ayane is still stuck with Souichi until his parents find him and drag him back home. Ayane is still alone, and even gets hit on by more losers until Pin saves her. However, since it’s Pin, this is not much consolation. Fortunately, Chizuru does better and gets to spend a lot of time with Ryu. She subtly hints that she’s over Tohru, and Ryu seems to get the hint that it’s rebound time. Too bad Ryu’s already deeply in love with Maru.
Reaction:
Did I ever tell you I like it doggystyle?
It occurred to me that perhaps Souichi was planted for Ryu and Shota’s benefit all along in order to isolate ultimate wing-girl Ayane. While I doubt Souichi did it on purpose, both Ryu and Shota got what they wanted and in return for removing all distractions, Souichi got a little time with Ayane. Still, I was glad that his parents finally intervened and dragged Souichi off, since he takes up way too much screen time that would be better used on a Sawako/Shota confession. The same goes for Pin, although Pin is at least occasionally funny. If those two had been written out of the show, Sawako and Shota could have moved past the nervous more-than-friends phase into the on-again-off-again phase by now. It’s made that much worse by the fact that Ume got completely screwed out of screen time at the end. You can bet that she wished for a taller, slightly curvier body, because really that’s the only thing separating Ume and Sawako from being hairball twins.
Starting to see spots… did you slip something into my drink?
The show really kept the tension on at the end and I kept thinking that maybe we would get some kind of dramatic confession, especially since the alcohol loosened Shota up a little. Alas, like the rest of the show it was a total tease and Shota had to walk home alone to take a cold shower. I guess it was too much to expect, since Sawako is just so naive, and perhaps it paves the way for another season. I thought the little conclusion scenes were nice, but they gave too much time to unimportant characters. Poor Ayane got screwed almost as hard as Ume did, and I don’t understand why Sawako’s dad didn’t just call her on her new cell phone. I think I’d watch another season of this, but only if Ayane gets more screen time and Shota gets a little action. I don’t think I could sit through another 25 episodes of shy emotional footsy.
Please God, let them discover a cure for my xxxHolic arms
