See. They really start young.

Nympho jokes aside, Mitsudomoe just keeps getting better and better by the episode, in part thanks to the numerous times Mitsuba becomes the butt of the jokes. Usually caused by herself too. Heck, I don’t even remember seeing Yabecchi in the show much anymore. Glad they’ve moved from the unsettling “kids using sexual innuendos on the adults” setting to the “kids doing stupid things to each other, usually with some sexual innuendo thrown in”. Makes a world of difference for me.

I’m actually pretty glad now this show is getting a second season, the triplets are really entertaining.

P.S. Despite how much Mitsuba pretends herself to be a ドＳ, she’s really a hardcore ドＭ at heart, isn’t she?

After 5 years, 65 chapters and 3 scanlators, Hoshi no Samidare finally comes to an end. A beautiful conclusion followed by a touching epilogue. This is how you end stories, people.

I first picked this up around 2008 thereabouts after reading a recommendation on a site somewhere. The quirky beginning instantly caught me, and as the story went on, I got extremely impressed with the depth and subtlety of the storytelling by Mizukami Satoshi.

I regard Mizukami-sensei now as one of the top-tier manga-ka’s that can actually tell a story and have it touch your heart and soul. What probably sealed the appeal of the story for me is how freely Mizukami-sensei creates a world of characters with a grudge against the world in some form and yet slowly injects a continuous modicum of hope in to their lives as we follow them on their journey. This slowly blossoms in to a realization that the world can be beautiful despite its many injustices and one has to just sit back and look at things in a different way. Well, that’s probably a very inadequate to describe exactly how good his story-telling is.

I highly recommend Hoshi no Samidare for reading to all my readers as well. It’s definitely a masterpiece of story telling and the catharsis one gets from the satisfying conclusion and epilogue of the manga is a feeling rarely found elsewhere. If this ever gets licensed in English, it’s definitely getting a permanent place on my bookshelf, suffice to say.

But seriously what the fuck is with this episode. Let me just quote someone:

“Apparently Saeko was killed by the zombies last week and they introduced her identical twin off screen, because this character and the one seen in the last eight episodes have practically nothing in common. She was prancing around without pants not two episodes ago without caring. Now she’s ashamed to be seen slightly wet? What? Did I miss a memo somewhere? “

From the whole “Komuro to isshoni” to getting wet to the yandere parts and the Heroic BSoD (which, I might add Komuro solved with a night of hot steamy sex and a public molestation), I was really wondering what the fuck happened to my oh-so-fucking-awesomely-kakkoii Busujima-senpai of the past few weeks.

Then, there’s also Komuro being a fucking boss…

… or not.

I seriously missed Hirano in this episode. Oh well, they’re reuniting next week, thank God.

Please imagine Blue Danube playing when Futaba gets sent flying.

Butt jokes are low but this was seriously original and funny enough. I think the last time I laughed as hard as this was during FMP? Fumoffu. I mean, I know it’s Futaba there, but hot damn, only Mitsuba can think of such an extreme things to do to her. Futaba Bowling indeed.

And the worst thing is…

Looks like Futaba got ‘awakened’ to a new world. Derp. She’s hardy enough for an M, but god help us all if she decides to be S instead….

As for Mitsuba, despite the bowling fracas, she’s won the Sister-of-the-Year award from me.

Underneath that bossy, cruel exterior, just lies a real softie at heart. Gotta say, this section was one of the best I’ve seen so far of the series.

I had really zero impression about Sae coming in to this arc – apart from seeing her beside Miya – so I’m happy to say I’m quite liking her a lot.

Yup, “like a small animal” perfectly describes her. Yes, yes, she’s the timid, shy type, but she’s not exactly stupid or airheaded and she does have friends and a personality.

Plus, she doesn’t give up immediately upon wishing for something. I just loved how she steeled herself up for Junichi’s lessons . I’m going to get shot for saying this, but Sae’s way more healing in one episode than two seasons of K-ON! ( ﾟ∀ﾟ)ｱﾊﾊ八八ﾉヽﾉヽﾉヽﾉ ＼ / ＼/ ＼

Speaking of lessons… Junichi’s sure scoring very fast this arc, eh?

Hurr, Forced Upgrades episode.

I have to admit, they did some things right with this episode, but it’s hard to ignore the elephant in the room that is Miyafuji’s sudden Heroic RRoD and subsequent Reboot all the in the span of the episode. Probably because they left the cause unexplained way until the end in the form an exposition one-liner. And it was a Power Overgrowth thing too. Would’ve been better if they made it a little more drawn-out over maybe two episodes instead of blatantly rushing it in. Not to mention the lack of OP this week made me thought they were going for a Wham Episode, preferably with people dying or something.

Ah but in any case, good fodder for Yoshika x Lynne Girls Love.

By the way, did anyone notice her new Striker Unit comes with Variable Wings? It shrunk back to the old Striker unit wings’ size after Yoshika took out the Neuroi.

If only the annual Sports Day at my school had these events, I think I might have fonder memories of it.

I must actually point out that this show has pretty much eclipsed Seitokai no Ichizon in terms of extremeness of jokes. Ironic because the girls are the ones running the show, not the guy.
