Hidamari Sketch x ☆☆☆ – 07

*huff puff* Please, Mister! Let me Rosario your Vampire!

DISCLAIMER: She's only a freshmen… and/or "I will Claim her dis Claim her!"

YO, CHECK IT OUT! It’s Chika the Chick from Rydell High *cricket cricket*… So anyways, the entire episode is dedicated to Sae’s little (but curvacious) sister, Chika. As any other guest to the Hidamari apartments, she is paying a visit to eat free food and chat amongst her Rectangular Sistahs.

As the episode continues, the Hida-Gals visit Kawasemi Park, but instead of showing us what happened during their visit, they only chat about it while eating snacks (The animators were lazy again). Long story short, someone finally ate that Green thing that spies on Yuno whenever she is taking a bath. THE END!

*pst* I voted for Louise in Sai Moe! *trollface*

"OH NO U DIDN'T!!! IMMA CRANK DAT SOULJA BOY AND WHACK U UPSIDE YO RECTANGLE ASS IF YOU DON'T CORRECT DIS RIGHT NOW!!! SHEEEET!!! BITCH BE TRIPPIN'!!!"

"Girl, what is UP with your hair?! Looks like a na-ZOO-na went through it! *BA DUM PSH* Eyyyyy!!"

Impressions

This was an okay episode, but too much Chika is probably a bad thing since I’m a lolicon since she’s totally stealing everyone’s thunder. She has short hair like Yuno, big boobs like Yuno, big head like Yuno, a better personality than Yuno, the list goes on and on! Episodes involving Chika usually focus on the relationship between the sisters, but this time Sae wasn’t needed. Chika the Churro-Eater fit so well that you would think she was an Up Town Girl livin’ in a Hidamari World.

Speaking of Billy Joel, WHAT THE HELL WERE THEY WEARING?!?!… I LOVED IT!!! Nothing speaks ridiculous better than a nagging wife and her husband who never listens!

It was great seeing Chika and Nazna bond, but sometimes it seems a little forced. For instance, if this were real life and Nazna said “We went to a field trip in middle school”, there would be dead silence since no one would know how to react to it. It’s really hard for shy people like Nazna to keep a conversation going, so I’m glad Chika was there to help. In fact, it reminds me of the time TOTALM@STER gave me advice on becoming more proactive, but he was only advertising acne cream…

I'm dancing where the sun don't shine, happy as a cricket. "What did you wish for", I asked. "It doesn't matter. I've already won the ticket". I didn't understand, standing under his hand, my wish was "Let me learn more from this man". Jesus was a Gangsta Jigg. He's bustin' for the Customers

"YOU WANNA PUT UR CARROT IN MY CURRY?!?!"

"huh? I don't have to blog Darker Than BLACK OVA?… okay, I guess we're cool then"

“There’s something peculiarly wrong with Yoshinoya sensei“, say’s Yuno who happens to know everything (she read the script and is 2 weeks late with this post). Not only is there a random eye-catch every 5 or so minutes, but Yoshinoya keeps poking at her cellphone as if T-Mobile were still cool. Miyako con Yuno investigate with Hiro and Sae, who come to the conclusion that Yoshinoya is in love. After a few more misunderstandings, Yoshinoya reveals that she is only reading a love novel (?) on her cell phone.

Yuno takes a bath while reading this so called Cell Phone Love Novel and hates it. She hated it so much that she refused to blog that Darker Than Black S2 OVA.

"How do you solve a problem like Mi-Ya-KOoOooOOOoo!" (/Sound of Music)

In the future, Yuno and Miyako rush to class while catching Nawwwwwwwznaw with the opposite sex. Later, Sae and Hiro see Nawwwwwwwwwznaw with another guy as well! Those rectangular heads are filled with one thing: GOSSIP, so the Hidamari-ers (along with Nori) confront Nazna to find out da-deets. Apparently, Nazna is very popular with the boys (including my rival), and something about putting carrots into her curry. THE END!

People tell me that all the time!

Impressions

I quite enjoyed this episode, but mostly for the sexist tendencies (ex: girls reading electronic love novels IN THE BATH TUB, girls getting all excited when talkin’ bout BOIZ, putting carrots into other people’s curry, etc). I’m still confused why anyone would use an electronic device in the tub, but as long as it has warranty it should be fine (DISCLAIMER: It’s not fine. Don’t do it. Seriously.)

The 20 or so eye catches were pretty gangsta, especially the ones with Yuno’s boobage, Sae x Natsume, and the girls wearing glasses (except for Sae cause she’s already wearing glasses and looks like a man). Speaking of eye-glasses and eye-catching, the TOTAL_M@STER once told me he would pre-order Pokemon HeartGold and SoulSilver ’cause they were the best Pokemon games in the series. That is all.

"This Tub is TUBULAR, but there is no need to put it in an expensive sports car", said I while refuting his ridiculous claims. "Ridiculous is the Sign of a Genius. Promiscuous is the Sin of a Penis"… Jesus was a Gangsta Jigg. He's bustin' for the Customers

The Nick Simmons Internet Beatdown continues

Incarnate

Incarnate

The tsunami that is the Nick Simmons affair is beginning to crest; ever since fans noticed, a couple of days ago, that some panels of his comic Incarnate bore a suspiciously strong resemblance to Bleach (and Bleach fanart!), the internet has been swelling up in outrage. If you’re coming late to the party, or just need a good laugh, check out Rob Bricken’s beatdown at Topless Robot, which hilariously sums the whole thing up and includes the news that (of course) there is a Facebook group about it and a fake Nick Simmons joined it just to denounce and threaten his detractors. Johanna Draper Carlson takes a more serious tack at Comics Worth Reading, with a discussion of swiping, plagiarism, and piracy. Deb Aoki has been asking tough questions and tracking the controversy on Twitter, and Christopher Butcher sums some of that up with a stern admonition to fan artists at Comics212.net:

Here’s the thing: I’ve got infinitely more respect for obvious thief Nick Simmons than I do for the legions of artist-alley dwellers selling mass-produced copies of their fanart for characters. Nick Simmons is (badly) taking his influences and turning them into something (horribly derivative but at least nominally) “new”. It’s not original, it may not even be good, but every artist or writer is comprised mainly of the sum of their influences and experiences. But at least Simmons on his first shot out of the gate managed to synthesize all that shit into something other than “Here is a terribly drawn portrait of two BLEACH characters making out, in tribute to an author who clearly never wanted this to happen or he’d have done it himself. I am charging $10 for this colour photocopy.”

As usual, Butcher takes no prisoners, although he makes it clear that he supports fanart but draws the line at selling it. Simon Jones adds his own thoughts on doujinshi vs. fanart at the Icarus blog.

Yo Chizuru, I'm really happy for you; I'mma Let you finish, but Ayane had one of the best romantic failures of this series!

Summary:

I was hoping to grab your buns, but all I got was flatbread

Chizuru is caught in an interesting dilemma as she wants to give Ryu his present (with a smile), and she wants to see Tohru again, but she knows she should wait until Tohru leaves before stopping by.  When she gets there, she finds Ryu has been waiting for her, and he coldly gives her Tohru’s message and mentions that she sure took her sweet time.  This supremely pisses Chizuru off, since she purposely waited until Tohru left, but Ryu combos off the launcher by honestly telling Chizuru that he is glad that things went down like they did, since now she can give up on Tohru.  Naturally, this doesn’t go over well, and Chizuru throws her gift in Ryu’s face, tells him she hates him, and stomps off.

Ayane and Sawako feel terrible that they can’t help Chizuru feel better, but Shota says that their concern is sufficient to lift Chizuru’s spirits.  Chizuru ignores Ryu all day, but he intercepts her in the stairway after her bread-o-rama.  Ryu tactlessly agrees that Chizuru’s infatuation was hopeless from the beginning, and as Chizuru storms off again, Ayane and Sawako are there to comfort her.  Seeing Sawako’s tears finally gets Chizuru to stop pretending nothing’s wrong, and she finally engages in two of the three things girls love to do after being dumped: binge eating and complaining about boys.

Reaction:

Too bad Chizuru is too poor for retail therapy

The first third of this episode was sooooo boring, watching Ayane and Sawako mope around.  I’ve been there trying to comfort a forlorn friend, and it sucks; obviously watching someone else do it is not much more entertaining.  However, Chizuru’s plight was much more interesting.  I liked how she finally let loose about how terribly awkward the situation was, and how hard she tried to do the right thing.  I even felt bad for Chizuru this time.  All this time she seemed like your typical genki-baka but this episode really deepened her character a lot.

Ryu continues to employ a strange strategy for winning Chizuru over.  Blunt honesty is his strength and Chizuru was never one for subtlety, but perhaps he could have held his tongue in a few cases.  Still, the things he said were all things Chizuru needed to hear, and perhaps in time she can piece together what Ryu was implying when he said he was happy that Chizuru’s one-sided romance was destroyed.  Hopefully the two of them can reconcile, although having Chizuru coming over to Ryu’s place to apologize only to find him making out with some hot, curvy chick in a mini-skirt would be an interesting/awkward development also.

Naruto 484

Wait, did you just shrink my boobs? You said you were going to enlarge them! I TRUSTED YOU!!!

Summary:

Why do you keep facepalming, Kakashi? Hmm… Sakura is behind me, isn't she?

Kakashi tries to get Sakura to stay away by ordering her to heal Karin.  Karin can’t help but sympathize with the sobbing Sakura, as Sasuke works himself into a vengeful froth at the sight of Kakashi’s Sharingan.  Sasuke brings back Susanoo for another speedy arrow, and of course instead of dodging the arrow, Kakashi warps the arrow away with his Mangekyo.  Once again, Kakashi implores Sasuke to look inside his heart and find more than revenge; unfortunately, when Sasuke sees his smiling friends in his heart, he gets angry that they aren’t as emo about Itachi as he is.

Damsel in distress no jutsu

Sasuke powers up Susanoo, but suddenly his vision goes and Susanoo fizzles.  Don’t worry Sasuke, it happens to everyone *snicker*.  Before Kakashi can do anything (since he moves like he’s drunk after using the Mangekyo), Sakura zips in to try to backstab Sasuke.  As expected, Sakura chickens out and gets taken hostage by Sasuke.  This is Naruto’s cue to enter, and he sweeps Sakura off her feet before Sasuke can kill her.

Reaction:

I really hope that Madara warps in and carries Sasuke off in his arms the way Naruto did with Sakura.  That would be awesome.  Other than that, it was the same ole useless Sakura act once more.  This battle could have resulted in victory in so many different ways, and yet Sakura managed to completely blow it.  First, she could have thrown a sleep bomb as she went for the backstab.  Second, she could have punched Sasuke in the face with her super strength when he grabbed her at close range.  Third, she could have used her super strength to prevent Sasuke from gingerly taking the kunai out of her hand.  I mean, WTF Sakura?  It’s like Sakura has absolutely no fighting skills, but everyone is afraid to tell her because Sakura is such a skilled medic.

Anyway, I’m willing to bet that Naruto will get a few macho words in, but before the battle can really get underway Sasuke will escape.  Sasuke is too injured for this to be a fair fight, so we’ll be left high and dry once again, and Naruto will have to go back to the village and mope with Sakura.  Oh yeah, BTW, was Karin always so flat?  And if Karin fell in love with Sasuke after he rescued her, shouldn’t she fall in love with Sakura next?

Bleach swipes, Mangastuds, and Handley stick men

Here is your scandal du jour: In this long (warning: image-heavy) LJ thread, the poster raises the question of whether Nick Simmons (son of KISS member Gene Simmons) is tracing from Bleach when drawing his comic Incarnate. The latest word is that publisher Radical is putting the comic on hold while they investigate. Gia has more at Anime Vice.

Ladies vs Butlers 08

Ladies vs Butlers!

Don’t worry, this is to throw everyone off. In fact, this episode didn’t even have a single bath scene or even full frontal nudity! Hell, I waited for 16 MINUTES before they even showed some nipples! What the hell?

Okay, back to the episode. Basically Selnia invites Hino to her home in order to…

Ladies vs Butlers!

… yeeeeeah. That’s gonna just work out fine. Yup. No problemo.

Ladies vs Butlers!

Let me introduce you to the best meido in the show so far, Anna.

Ladies vs Butlers!

Ahh… Anna-san is soooooo understanding of her lady’s needs! Good Job!

Ladies vs Butlers!

Ladies vs Butlers!

Drunk Akiharu is pretty damn LOL. But really, getting drunk on whiskey chocolate? That’s an unexpectedly cute weakpoint.

Ladies vs Butlers!

Remember the first screencap? I did say it was to throw everyone off. At least nothing he would’ve regretted happened. Although Selnia probably regrets that a bit.

Ladies vs Butlers!

Couldn’t resist posting this cute screencap. Poor girl must’ve been terribly frustrated after getting led on so nicely only for Hino to collapse.

Ladies vs Butlers!

Yawn, 16 freaking minutes and we finally see some skin. This *has* to be a record of sorts for this show.

Ladies vs Butlers!

Predictably, Selnia drowns and Hino saves him. Almost even gave her CPR too, but too bad she had bad timing.

Ladies vs Butlers!

…. but it turns out she wanted to do it properly later! :D :D:D:D The Selnia x Hino shippers probably went overdrive with that, hurr. Tomomi’s not gonna be too pleased about this, hurrr.

So, the show finally gets in to PLOT, hinting STRONGLY of Selnia x Hino, but we’ll see about that. Tomomi wasn’t too pleased about Selnia stealing a march on her already and knowledge of that kiss might flip her out. Oh god I wonder what’s she going to do to poor Selnia if she does….

Tsubasa Cat #3 Audio Commentary

Mayoi and Hanekawa pair up for the third episode of Tsubasa Cat and immediately label Araragi the “enemy of all women” not even 2 minutes in to the episode thanks to his antics with Hachikuji. Well, I can’t deny he was asking for it….

There’s actually a running joke about how Hanekawa’s OP sequence is the worst amongst all the girls because of “Hachikuji-P’s” influence. Since I haven’t heard Mayoi Snail #2 and #3, I’ll assume it’s a continuation from there. Of course, Hachikuji denies it totally here. The other running joke in Tsubasa Cat #1 and #2 was to get Hanekawa to say her ” I don’t know everything” line and Hanekawa finally goes “Yeah, I know everything” to Hachikuji instead of refusing to say the line but trying to imply it in another way.

Probably the funniest parts of the commentary was when Hanekawa appears on-screen in her pajamas and Hachikuji immediately accuses her of showing off her “assets” to Araragi intentionally, saying that’s probably why she’s chosen for this episode rather than Senjougahara. Of course, Hanekawa denies it vehemently, but it’s pretty useless considering her on-screen actions ahaha. The best one was how Hachikuji notices she’s not wearing a bra and then hugs on to Araragi on his bicycle and Hanekawa immediately tries to pin the blame on Araragi but Hachikuji refutes that, even though she’s not really on Araragi’s side.

Apparently the final episode of Tsubasa Cat will finally have a male guest! That “guy”! Or so we thought until Mayoi declares it’s “Senjougahara’s father” ヽ( >∀<)ノ AHAHA AHAHA AHAHAHAHA. Poor Hanekawa is going to have a taste of poor Araragi’s feelings from episode 12. Oh well, we’ll see when the Blu-Ray comes out. Would be hillarious if it comes true.

Oh right, before I forget, the surprising fact of this episode was Hanekawa admitting she’s not going to university and instead she’s planning on going somewhere. I think.

Ah.. another two more episodes. I hope SHAFT manages to not miss their schedule this time.

Tsubasa Cat #1, #2 Audio Commentaries

Huh, surprisingly Nadeko paired up with Hanekawa for Tsubasa Cat #1’s audio commentary. I just realised Nadeko’s way more funnier at the commentaries rather than her own character on the show. Even more so at how innocent she is whenever a scene showing Araragi doing ecchi things happen and she totally doesn’t realise it. Or pretends not to. Not to mention the fact she gets all excited whenever “Koyomi onii-chan” appears on-screen or whenever she sees someone in trouble on-screen and tries to rush there to save them. All her partners really have a tough time following her pace haha. Oh and apparently, Nadeko is a big fan of Dragon Quest too.

Tsubasa Cat #2 is done by Senjougahara and Hanekawa, as expected. Obviously she can’t have other people “intruding” in to her private times. The funniest part was when Hanekawa asked about bringing Mr. Senjougahara along, to which Hitagi answers that it’s obviously the only way she could get there and all since it’s far away, etc. etc. but admits it was a form of harassment in the end. Her deadpan voice when her onscreen self said to Araragi she wanted to be kissed was terribly funny too.

Man, I sure wish some group would be crazy enough to do sub the commentaries as well. At this point, those commentaries are pretty much an integral part of the series too! I still need to listen to the Mayoi Snail and Suruga Monkey ones though…..
